Getting Started
We know that navigating autism services can feel overwhelming—especially when balancing busy schedules, insurance paperwork, and everyday life. At Excel ABA, we aim to make getting started as seamless and stress-free as possible.
You don't have to have all the answers today. Our team is here to guide you through every step of the journey, meeting your family right where you are.

1
Step 1: Phone Consult
What Happens: Give us a call or use our link below to schedule a tour. A dedicated member of our intake team will connect with you to listen to your story, discuss your child's unique needs, and walk you through immediate next steps.
Our Goal: To understand your family's priorities, answer your initial questions, and ensure Excel ABA is the right clinical fit for your learner.
2
Step 2: Tour Our Center
What Happens: Visit our center! You’ll get to explore our learning environment, see our therapy rooms, meet our clinical team, and sit down with our Clinical Director to talk about your child in a welcoming, low-pressure space.
Our Goal: To help your family feel completely comfortable, safe, and confident in the environment where your child will be learning and growing.
C —
Compassionate
Fostering an environment of dignity, respect, and self-worth for both our team and those we serve.
In Practice: We treat every child with absolute dignity, honor their unique identity, and nurture a warm, supportive workplace where clinicians and families feel valued.

Step 3: Initial Assessment
What Happens: Your child will meet with a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) for a compassionate, comprehensive evaluation through play, observation, and direct interaction.
-
Skills Assessment: Pinpoints current developmental milestones in communication, social skills, and self-care.
-
Functional Behavior Assessment (FBA): Identifies why challenging behaviors occur so we can build positive replacement behaviors and teach self-advocacy skills.
Our Goal: To uncover your child’s strengths, identify their needs, and establish a clear starting line for their growth.
4
Step 4: Insurance Authorization
What Happens: We handle the heavy lifting behind the scenes. Once the clinical assessment is complete, our administrative and authorization team works directly with your insurance provider to submit clinical reports, secure necessary pre-authorizations, and transparently review coverage details with you.
Our Goal: To remove administrative and financial barriers so you can focus entirely on your child's care.
5
Step 5: Parent Meeting
What Happens: Sit down with your oversight BCBA to review your child’s customized treatment plan. Together, we align on goals for functional communication, self-advocacy, and independence, select the right pathway of care (Comprehensive or Focused ABA), and prepare for your child's very first day.
Our Goal: To ensure complete transparency, establish a true family partnership, and set a confident launch date for therapy.

What happens after Day 1?
-
Building Trust (Pairing): Initial sessions heavily focus on building a joyful, trusting relationship between your child and their Registered Behavior Technician (RBT). Learning is woven directly into engaging, play-based interactions.
-
Continuous Data & Error Analysis: Your BCBA continuously analyzes daily session data to ensure skills never sit stagnant. If progress slows, we perform error analysis and adapt our teaching methods immediately.
-
Ongoing Family Collaboration: We hold regular caregiver check-ins using our in-house parent curriculum to share progress, teach strategies for home, and celebrate milestone moments as a team.
